I'm trying to enable a banner to display only on the front page using the front-end configuration tool.

What other settings should I set? Show Banner to Enable or Disable in the template back-end config?

If I have Show Banner disabled in the template back-end: nothing shows anywhere.
If I have Show Banner enabled in the template back-end: banner shows everywhere.

It doesn't seem to matter what I set in the front end..

Any help?

Thanks so much.

Hi mpvmvp,
To select which pages modules show up, edit the module and scroll down, under Menu Assignment select "Select Menu Item(s) from the List", then click on the page where you'd like the module to show, probably mainmenu Home in your case. Also make sure the module is enabled.

I've tried this and it doesn't have any effect.

What should the backend setting be? "Show banner" enabled or disabled?

Thanks,

Michael - Joomla Newbie :)

Hi Michael,
Show banner should certainly be enabled, otherwise it won't ever show on any page. So, after you click Select Menu Item(s) from the List, and then you click on the page in which you want the module to show, and then you save, the module's still not showing on that page? What type of module are you trying to get to show? Are you sure you have the correct module position picked? Make sure you've got "banner" selected as the position. If you're using a custom html module, it won't show if you don't have anything in the text editor.

Thanks for your help Kyle, I'm getting quite frustrated, but I'll persevere...What I'm trying to achieve is having an image in the header that shows on all pages and a banner that shows just on the Homepage.

Show banner is enabled in the template configuration

Banners module (mod_banners) is enabled but "banner" is not an option for position. There is "custombanner" position, though, and "debug" "footer" "left" "right" "syndicate" "top" "user1" "user2" "user3" and "user4".

In the front-end template config, I've selected the banner name and the menu item as "Home (main menu)".

Currently the banner shows on all pages, not just the homepage.

Thanks so much for your help,

Michael

We'll figure this out, don't worry, it's probably some small silly setting ;)
In Joomla 1.5, you can simply type in the banner position dropdown to add a position name, like "banner", but that doesn't seem to be the problem if the banner is showing on all pages.
Can you either post or send me a PM with a link to your site? I might also ask for a super admin account (temporarily) to help you out, you can safely PM that as well.
